• (XVI^e-XX^e siècles) en particulier en Asie.
  a)  Translations et transferts culturels ;  acteurs et  modalités de la circulation des savoirs scientifiques à l’âge moderne  ;  missions jésuites en Asie ; cartographie, cryptographie, techniques de navigation et  technologies de la construction navale ; architecture militaire.
  b) Métissages, acculturations, constructions identitaires, conversions religieuses au Moyen-Orient, en Asie du Sud et du Sud-Est.
• Histoire maritime de la Méditerranée et de l’océan Indien. Les pays riverains et les relations internationales :
  a) Villes portuaires et réseaux marchands ; diplomatie et systèmes d’information ;  interprètes et  réseaux d’espionnage.  
  b) Relations luso-ottomanes (Méditerranée et océan Indien [Mer Rouge, golfe Persique, Gujerat, golfe du Bengale]) ; luso-Arabes (Oman, Yémen) et luso - safavides, XVI^e-XVII^e siècles.
• Histoire des juifs ibériques dans l’Empire ottoman.
• Histoire comparée des Empires européens en Asie, XVI^e-XVIII^e siècles.

• Édition du livre  Le Portugal et l’Empire ottoman à l’époque de D.João III et de Soliman le Magnifique. La rivalité pour l’hégémonie dans le golfe Persique (1538-1578) (thèse d’habilitation à diriger des recherches).

• Édition des Actes du International Congress on the History of  Shipbuilding (Wooden  & Post-Wooden, Université Pîrî Reîs (Maritime History and Research Center, International Association of Maritime Studies, IAMS), Istanbul, 10-11 mai 2018.

• Édition critique des Voyages de Gemelli Careri en Perse et dans l’Empire ottoman (avec Ilda dos Santos, Université de Paris 3 - Sorbonne Nouvelle) éd. Honoré Champion.

• Étude  des sources ibériques du Kitab-ı Bahriye de Pîrî Reîs (nouvelle édition  par Jean-Louis Bacqué-Grammont, CNRS).

• Édition de documentation portugaise et ottomane relative à Basra (XVI^e siècle) (avec Jean-Louis Bacqué-Grammont, CNRS et Faruk Bilici, INALCO).

• Édition de documentation sur la rivalité luso-ottomane dans l’océan Indien (golfe Persique et Oman) et sur les relations de l’Estado da índia avec la Perse Safavide et  les sultanats indiens (Gujarat, Bijapur) au XVI^e siècle (voir publications)

• Édition des lettres en persan de la collection Cartas Orientais conservées aux archives nationales de Lisbonne (avec Nader Nasiri Moghaddam, Université de Strasbourg).

• Édition du Routier de la mer Rouge (Roteiro do Mar Roxo) de D.João de Castro  (1547) dans le cadre des livrables de l’ANR/MeDIan, et participation à l’anthologie de textes sur l’océan Indien prévue dans le même programme [sous la direction d’ Eric Vallet, Laboratoire de l’Islam médiéval, CNRS, UMR 8167, Université de Paris I).

Topics of research

• Political, social and cultural history of Portugal (11th-21th centuries) and its empire (16th-20th centuries), particularly in Asia.

a) Translations and cultural transfers; actors and modalities of the circulation of scientific knowledge in the early modern age; Jesuit missions in Asia; cartography, cryptography, navigation techniques and shipbuilding technologies; military architecture.

b) Miscegenations, acculturations, identity building processes, religious conversions in the Middle-East and in South and Southeast Asia.

• Maritime history of the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean. The riparian  countries and their international relations:

a) Port- cities and  trade networks; diplomacy and information systems; interpreters and intelligence networks.

(b) Luso-Ottoman political relations (Mediterranean and Indian Ocean [Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Gujarat, Bay of Bengal]); Luso-Arab (Oman, Yemen) and Luso-Safavid, 16th-17th centuries.

• Comparative history of the European Empires in Asia, 16th-18th centuries.

• Edition of Portuguese and Ottoman documents on Basra (16th century) (with Jean-Louis Bacqué-Grammont, CNRS, and Faruk Bilici, INALCO).

• Publication of documents on the Luso-Ottoman rivalry in the Indian Ocean (Persian Gulf and Oman) and the relations of Estado da Índia with Safavid Persia and the Indian Sultanates (Gujarat, Bijapur) in the 16th century.

• Edition of the Persian letters in the Cartas Orientais collection in the National Archives of Lisbon (with Nader Nasiri Moghaddam, University of Strasbourg).

• Edition of the Red Sea Rutter (Roteiro do Mar Roxo) by D.João de Castro (1547) as part of the ANR / MeDIan program and participation in the anthology of texts on the Indian Ocean  as a part of the same program [dir. Eric Vallet, Laboratory of Medieval Islam, CNRS, UMR 8167, University of Paris I).
